Facilities

We pride ourselves on providing top-tier facilities that support dynamic and engaging learning experiences.

We offer a nurturing environment with state-of-the-art facilities, including advanced classroom technology, vibrant outdoor learning spaces, and a dedicated Makerspace. Our focus is on fostering creativity, independence, and a love of learning in every student.

Classroom technology

Each classroom is equipped with smart televisions and sound field systems to optimise learning. We implement a 1:1 device policy, ensuring that every student has access to modern technology. Additionally, our Junior Primary classrooms utilise Apple TVs, further enhancing interactive learning opportunities.

We are dedicated to ensuring that our students can explore and use digital tools safely, responsibly, and effectively to support their learning journey. We foster a positive and secure online environment where students feel confident engaging with technology in ways that enhance both their learning and wellbeing.

School grounds

Our well-maintained school grounds include two spacious ovals, double courts, shaded playgrounds, and sandpit play areas. These outdoor spaces are thoughtfully designed to encourage active play, exploration, and learning.

The Wellbeing Hub

We recognise the diverse needs of our students and have a dedicated sensory room for those with identified sensory requirements. This space provides a calm and supportive environment, allowing students to manage sensory input and engage fully in their learning.

Multipurpose hall

Our hall is a versatile space that serves as the hub for various activities. It includes a fully-equipped kitchen for culinary learning, and a stage area where students participate in concerts, performances, and end-of-year events. This space is central to our school’s community activities and celebrations.

Flexible learning spaces

As a forward-thinking school, we value student input in shaping their learning environments. Students play an active role in designing both indoor and outdoor learning spaces, ensuring that these areas reflect their needs and preferences. This collaborative approach fosters a sense of ownership and enhances the learning experience.

Nature play area

Our Nature Play Area is a vibrant space where students are encouraged to be responsible, creative, and critical thinkers. Working alongside staff, students have helped develop areas like our scrub area, vegetable garden, and general garden spaces. The simple guiding rules—be safe, be respectful, be prepared—ensure a positive and enriching outdoor experience. This year, we upgraded the sandpit with new decking and storage, providing an inviting space for imaginative play.

Library

The library at St John’s is a welcoming space for the entire community. Recently renovated, it now features cosy couches and updated furniture, creating a comfortable environment for reading and study. With the introduction of the AccessIt library management system, students can independently manage their borrowing, fostering digital literacy and a love of reading. We believe that by empowering students in the library, we are nurturing essential life skills and fostering lifelong readers.

Makerspace

Our Makerspace brings S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) to life through hands-on activities. Equipped with a variety of tools—from knitting looms to hammers, saws, and Lego—this vibrant space encourages students to explore their creativity and solve real-world problems. The addition of a green screen has further sparked curiosity among our budding filmmakers, providing endless opportunities for innovation and discovery.
