How to get involved
Parents and the community are invited to partner with St John’s to create a caring, connected community where every contribution enriches learning.
We believe that a close partnership between home and school, along with strong community engagement, helps students thrive academically, socially, and spiritually. We invite all families to become part of this vibrant and caring community, where every contribution makes a meaningful difference.
At St John’s Lutheran School, we believe that students, parents, and staff are one body—working together to provide the best possible education for our students. We strive to create a warm, caring, family atmosphere where Christian love, forgiveness, and a sense of belonging are central to our daily lives. Parental involvement is highly valued, and we see parents as partners in their child’s learning journey, making our community stronger and more connected.
Parents as partners
We recognise that parents play an integral role in the success of our school and in nurturing each child’s development. At St John’s, our staff is committed to maintaining open and strong communication with parents, fostering a supportive partnership that benefits every child. Parent engagement extends to our administration, where feedback and concerns are thoughtfully considered in decision-making processes. We believe that a collaborative approach, guided by Christian values, enriches the learning experience for everyone.
Ways to get involved
There are many opportunities for parents and families to actively participate in the life of our school:
- Parents and Friends Network (P&F): Join our P&F group, where parents work together to organise events, fundraisers, and activities that support the school and build a strong sense of community. Events such as the Back to School Night Welcome BBQ and special menus are always well-attended and offer a great way to get involved.
- School events: Attend and contribute to a range of school-wide events, including Sports Days, chapel services, working bees, and more. These events are at the heart of our community and provide opportunities for families to connect and contribute to school life.
- Classroom helpers and excursions: Parents can volunteer in classrooms or accompany students on excursions, assisting teachers and engaging directly with students. This hands-on involvement supports learning and strengthens the bond between home and school.
- School Board: The School Board consists of seven dedicated members who help guide the strategic direction of the school. Parents are encouraged to stay informed and get involved in governance, ensuring their voices are heard.
